Yahoo Maktoob Launch it’s Arabic Interface
Finally Yahoo Maktoob launched it’s Arabic interface which contains mainly Arabic news. I visited Yahoo today and I was surprised when I saw all the news was in Arabic/English and mainly about Arabic countries.
I used to visit the Yahoo home page which is mainly about the US. I didn’t see any thing that was eye catching because the main news is directed towards the American audience. Today you can visit the home page where you can find a lot of news which may concern any Arab or anyone who is living in an Arabic country.
Yahoo started their plan to get involved and report events in the Middle East when they bought the largest Arabic portal Maktoob for about 80 million dollars. The Jordan-based portal was founded in 1999. Maktoob was the first major buy by a U.S. portal company in the Arab region. I believe Yahoo made a big step forward in becoming an important source of information in the Middle East and the Arab world in general and it is one step ahead of its competitor, Google.
